Corin Reveck, more widely known as Singed, is a Mad Scientist and a mysterious biologist who works with Silco, and is later enlisted by Ambessa Medarda to help revive Viktor. However, his loyalty lays only with himself, all in order to save his ill daughter.

Biography[]

Singed, also known as the "Mad Chemist," is a brilliant yet enigmatic scientist in Arcane.

Singed plays a critical role in the creation of Shimmer, the highly potent and addictive substance that grants its users extraordinary strength and resilience. To develop this chemical, Singed experiments extensively, using test subjects ranging from humans to exotic creatures. His fascination with evolution and biology leads him to use a creature named Rio, a rare animal with regenerative abilities. Singed attempts to harness Rio's biological properties to unlock the secrets of life and transformation, sacrificing the creature's health in the process. This obsession underscores his belief that progress requires great sacrifice—a theme that defines his character.

In his lab, Singed is shown with a Two-headed Creature, another experimental subject. This creature symbolizes his disregard for natural boundaries, as he manipulates lifeforms to serve his scientific ambitions. While the exact purpose of this experiment remains unclear, it demonstrates Singed's willingness to tamper with the very fabric of life to achieve his goals.

Singed's partnership with Silco stems from their shared vision of empowering Zaun, albeit through destructive means. He supplies Silco with Shimmer, which becomes a cornerstone of Silco’s rise to power. However,

In Arcane, Singed is a figure of shadows and complexity, whose experiments shape the fates of countless lives in Zaun. He is neither wholly villain nor hero, but a man consumed by his vision of progress, willing to destroy in order to create.

History[]

Most of Singed's life is unknown, though it can be presumed that he hails from Zaun, and it is known that his name was Corin Revereck. At some point he was married and had a daughter named Orianna, who fell mortally ill. Singed was forced to put her in a stasis coffin in order to prevent her early demise, and began searching for a cure to Orianna's illness. He studied in the University of Piltover and worked with the renowned scientist and professor Heimerdinger, but his radical approach to science provoked him to be expelled, which lead to Singed's departure.[2] It is unknown what happened to Singed's wife. At some point, he changed his name to Singed.

Characteristics[]

Personality[]

Dr. Singed operates on the fringes of morality, pushing the boundaries of science regardless of the consequences. His relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation defines him as both a genius and a harbinger of destruction. From his very first moment, Singed is shown to be a solemn, quiet but intelligent man who was able to keep calm, even while witnessing atrocious or disgusting events unfold, or even during stressful moments that threaten his life. Similarly, he is unbothered by creating and supplying people their whims, even while knowing they were harmful or outright dangerous to living beings.

Singed’s character is tinged with tragedy. He is able to achieve many impressive, if morally dubious feats with his experiments, all in order to find a cure for his beloved daughter's illness. In fact, it can be presumed that most if not all his actions and affiliations were made so in order to further progress his reserach to save Orianna. Singed’s motivations go beyond loyalty; he views his work as a necessary path to greater understanding, even if it brings chaos to his surroundings or are destructive to them.

The doctor is never a direct threat to others and seems more interested in serving himself than other parties, but is capable of forming alliances as long as it aids to his cause. However, he is not harmless as he is the cause of much suffring throughout the series, with him being the main reason of many people's deaths. His deep love for his daughter is seemingly his only motivator to go through with many of the actions he commits, wanting to save her from her illness at any cost necessary. His moral compass is completely blinded by his ambition, seeing his goal as fair and his actions required in order to reach it. Ultimately, his constant perseverance leads to him achieving the goal of saving his daughter.

Appearance[]

Prior to his facial disfigurement, Singed looks like a very pale, tall but slim man, who appears weak due to his complexion and skin color. He has balding spots on his head and short, black hair. He also seems to have heterochromia, as his left eye was brown and his right eye was green. After an explosion disfigured him, he becomes completely bald, but his more drastic changes show on his face. The right side of his face is covered by burn scars, reaching up to the top of his head. His right eye was affected as well, as it is pure white without iris instead. The left side however is completely normal. Sometimes, he can be seen hunchbacked.

Abilities[]

  • Intellectual prowess: Though morally dubious at best, the doctor posseses an incredible intellect in order to create Shimmer, and later on create Warwick.

Trivia[]

  • Singed has a daughter, Orianna, who was in stasis throughout Arcane until the series finale, where it is revealed that he saved her life by turning her into a cyborg.
